INTERNATIONAL
FEDERATION OF COMPANY SECRETARIES (IFCS)
We would like to inform our
members
the
achievements
made by the
Council
in international activities of the institute as
under:
REGISTRATION OF IFCS LOGO
The logo of International Federation
of Company Secretaries (IFCS) was finalized and
adopted in the 3rd assembly meeting of the IFCS
held at Dhaka, Bangladesh on July 05, 2006.
The meeting was directed the secretary, IFCS to
get the Logo registered in India and arrange to
get it registered by other IFCS Member
institutes in other respective countries.
The member IFCS were inform that the institute
of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) had
lodged the application for registration of IFCS
logo with the Government of India for approval
which is still in the process of registration
by
their Government.
Likewise, The Institute of Corporate Secretaries
of Pakistan (ICSP) applied to the Government of
Pakistan for registration of IFCS logo on
February 14, 2008. By the grace of Almighty
Allah, the ICSP feels great pleasure to inform
that the institute has become successful in
registration of IFCS logo in Pakistan. A
provisional Certificate No. TM – 15558, dated
22.03.2008 has also been issued by The
Intellectual Property Organization, Trade Marks
Registration Government of Pakistan.
Best Corporate practices is emerging in the
world as important aspect of Corporate
Governance. To accomplish the best Corporate
practice, corporate secretaries play an
effective role.
The world being global village and borderless,
the professionals of corporate sector looking
for effective corporate practices.
The first thing on the agenda was granting
reciprocal exemption to the qualified members of
the institutes to have networking of corporate
secretaries. For working on the agenda for the
grant reciprocal exemptions in various papers
amongst (IFCS) members; a Working Group was
formed by the Governing Body of IFCS comprising
of the following representatives of IFCS
Members.

Institute of
Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)

The Institute
of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan (ICSP)
-
The Institute
of Chartered Secretaries and Management of
Bangladesh (ICSMB)
-
The Institute
of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK)
First meeting of the Working Group of IFCS for
reciprocal exemptions was held on 10th September
2006 at Kolkata. The following points were
discussed for consideration:-

To decide
methodology for review of the nomenclature
of papers and course contents for the
examinations of the member Institutes and
for mutual exemptions to be granted by each
member Institute.

To decide the
grant of mutual exemption in papers by each
member Institute subject to approval of its
Council.
Second meeting of the Working Group of
International Federation of Company Secretaries
for reciprocal exemptions was held on 23rd
September 2007 at Jaipur, India where in the
President (Examinaiton & Education Committee)
represented the Institute and mutual reciprocal
exemptions in papers of two Member Institutes
namely institute of Company Secretaries of India
(ICSI) and The Institute of Corporate Secretaries
of Pakistan (ICSP) were approved in the
following way:-

The Institute of Corporate Secretaries of
Pakistan (ICSP) has solicited from ICSI that a
member of ICSP after qualifying 6 (six) papers
of ICSI will be enrolled as member of institute
of Company Secretaries of India.
We hope that reciprocal exemptions and approval
of each others qualifications will be finalized
in the next meeting of IFCS proposed to be held
November 2008 with other member countries i.e.
Bangladesh and Kenya.
The Council of IFCS is making efforts to bring
other countries wherein Institution of Company
Secretaries exists to be
member of the Council.
